Drive to Inspire – Africa has successfully brought its 2025 Cohort 2 Mentorship Programme to a close with a warm and engaging closing ceremony. What began three months ago as a gathering of young people and professionals across 12 countries has ended with a renewed sense of community, growth and shared purpose.
This cohort brought together mentors and mentees from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Botswana, Uganda, Liberia, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Rwanda, Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the United States. The diversity of this group reflects how far the programme has travelled since its beginnings in Ghana, and how strongly the vision of cross-border guidance and support continues to resonate.
During the closing ceremony, our founder, Nana Adjoa Hackman, shared a reflection that captured the heart of the journey. She noted:
“Two and a half years ago, we planted a seed, a vision to empower young people in Africa through education and mentorship. I am amazed to see how beautifully that seed has blossomed. Whether mentor or mentee, you walk away from this programme with a heightened sense of empathy, self-awareness and resilience. These are the true tools of empowerment.”
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognise outstanding mentors and mentees who were nominated for their commitment throughout the cohort. Their stories of engagement, encouragement and personal growth were a reminder of the impact that intentional guidance can create.
The final webinar focused on emotional intelligence, a fitting close to a programme built on connection, understanding and support. Participants were encouraged to carry these skills forward as they continue shaping their personal and professional growth.
As we draw the curtain on this cohort, we express our sincere appreciation to every participant, mentor, partner and supporter who contributed to its success. The progress we witness today is a shared achievement, and it reinforces our belief in mentorship as one of the most powerful pathways to youth development.
